Texas has two accredited Doctor of Chiropractic programs, and they sit at opposite ends of the state’s two biggest metros. Both are checked here against the Council on Chiropractic Education directory. Texas is also one of the states where the licensure rules deserve a careful read before you pick your undergraduate coursework, not after — the board attaches a condition to those credits that catches people out.

Parker University — Dallas
In Dallas. Parker publishes the Doctor of Chiropractic program as ten trimesters, and offers two ways through it. On the traditional track you “complete all ten trimesters at our Dallas campus, starting hands-on training early and building clinical skills that prepare you for practice.” On the blended track you “start online, completing non-adjustment courses like physiology and biochemistry with innovative virtual tools,” then “in trimester four, transition to Dallas for hands-on adjustment and clinical training.” If relocating is the obstacle, that second track is the thing to ask admissions about. How chiropractic licensure works in Texas
Texas licenses chiropractors through the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Its published requirements include:
What Texas requires
Undergraduate coursework. “Ninety (90) or more fully accredited semester hours of college/university courses, with a ‘C-’ grade or better that are transferable to UT-Austin.” Applicants who entered chiropractic college before September 1, 2005 fall under a 60-hour requirement instead. The transferability condition is unusual and worth reading twice — it is not simply a credit count.
Chiropractic degree. Your chiropractic transcript and diploma must be on file with the board.
National boards. “Parts I, II, III, IV and Physiotherapy of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE).”
Texas Jurisprudence Examination. You must “take and pass with a grade of 75% or better on the jurisprudence exam,” which covers the current Texas Occupations Code Chapter 201 and the board’s rules. You are not eligible to sit for it until the board has your criminal background clearance and all required documents, and the board lists a $150 fee paid when you schedule.
