For Chiropractic Students

You're in Chiropractic School. Here's a Way to Run the Years on Purpose.

I'm in chiropractic school now, so how do I become the chiropractor I want to be, and not just get through the next exam? A way to run each year of school on purpose, from your first term to your first year in practice.

Your first terms fill up fast: coursework, labs, exams, and classmates and faculty with strong views about what kind of chiropractor you should become. Your school sets the curriculum, the clinic and the exams. Who you become while you do all of that is yours to work out. Modules 7 to 10 are built for that part, one stage of school at a time, through the move into practice at the end.

Your questions, answered

Which module is for where I am in school?

Modules 7 to 10, the Chiro Student Navigator, are each written around a stage of school. Module 7 is your first year: a plan you wrote for the year, a way of studying that holds up, a plan for the adjustments you'll learn, and a statement of the chiropractor you're becoming. Module 8 is your technical year, where your hands catch up with what you know. Module 9 is student clinic, with a real patient in front of you. Module 10 is the last stretch of school and the move into practice: an operating plan for your first year, the legal, insurance, money and systems plan for opening, and where you'll practice. You can open any of them at any point in school, so start with the one that matches where you are now.

How do I study for boards from the start?

Module 7's First-Year Study System is built around it: how you study, how you prepare for boards from the start, how you work in a group, and what you do when a test or a term goes badly. For what the examining board publishes about its exams, the Kaleidoscope, a sourced record of what schools, boards and organizations publish, has a page for students already in a program that links each source with the date it was checked. Ask your school who handles board-exam scheduling where you are.

When do I need to choose a technique or a kind of practice?

Your program sets the techniques it teaches, and the profession holds other traditions as well. Nobody needs your answer in your first term. Notice what draws you and write it down: Module 7's Professional Identity Statement asks who you want to serve and the philosophy you stand on, and Module 8 carries that into how you adjust. The Kaleidoscope describes each technique tradition from its own pages: What kinds of chiropractors are there?

How do I see practice outside my school's clinic?

Ask to spend time in offices beyond your school's clinic, with a plan for what you'll watch. Module 3 is built around exactly that: an observation plan before you go, a log you keep after each visit, and notes on how each office runs. The Kaleidoscope also sets out what each college publishes about its own clubs, if you'd rather start with the organizations on your campus.

What will my state require for a license?

Each state's licensing board publishes its own requirements. Read the board for the state where you plan to practice early, while there's still time to plan around what it asks: state licensure, board by board. If you don't know where you'll practice yet, start with Where can I practice once I graduate?

What about the seminar and technique companies in my inbox?

Neither ChiroTrack nor the Kaleidoscope rates seminar or technique companies, and the Kaleidoscope does not record what they charge. Before you pay for one, ask three things: what it costs in total, travel included; whether your program counts it for anything; and what your faculty and clinic doctors say about it. Unless your program requires one, a seminar is a choice you can make later.

Where do I start if I've only just begun?

Start free. The Thursday live is a free session, Thursdays at 6:00 PM Pacific starting November 5, 2026, that teaches one stage of the path and names its five milestones. The live teaches one stage at a time: leave your email on the Module 7 page to hear when the Module 7 session is on. When you're ready for more, open Module 7 on its own; you don't need the other three yet.

Honest answers to the usual objections

"Tuition is already more than I want to think about."

That's real. Start with what's free: the Thursday live and the Kaleidoscope. If you go further, modules come one at a time, for the stage of school you're in; a first-year student needs Module 7, not all four. What your program itself costs is set by your program: what each program publishes about cost.

"I don't have time for one more thing."

Your week already belongs to classes, labs and studying. A module asks for a short daily capture, a line or a photo, a weekly check-in on the milestone you're working on, and a monthly review with a mentor; the Thursday live is there if you want it. The milestones are made from what you're already doing: the way you study, the adjustments you're learning, and later the patients you see in clinic.

"My school already does this."

Your school teaches the curriculum, runs the clinic and sets what you need to graduate, and its faculty, clinic doctors and student services are people to learn from and lean on. What Modules 7 to 10 add is a place to plan each stage of school in your own words, keep what you make, and connect it to the practice you want, all the way to the paperwork and the space you open in. To check, set your school's course list and clinic handbook beside the five milestones on each module page. If your school's curriculum, clinic and student services already give you that, you may not need us.

"I'm not sure chiropractic is still for me."

That question can come up after you've started, and it deserves a real answer. If it's weighing on you, talk first with your school's advising or student services about your options, including what pausing or leaving would mean for you. Module 1 is built around one question, is this profession mine, and it still works once you're in: time in an office that practices differently from your school's clinic can change the picture. If you find out it isn't yours, that's a good outcome too.

Modules 1 to 5, once you're in school

None of these is needed to get through school. Modules 1 to 5 were written for the years before chiropractic school; if one of their questions comes back for you later, each one still fits:

Module 1, Pre-Chiro Foundations. When you want your reasons back in your own words: a Personal Philosophy Statement, and a reflection on how your thinking has moved.

Module 2, Inner S.T.A.T.E. The five roles of a whole chiropractor, the scientist, the thinker, the artist, the teacher and the entrepreneur, which run through Modules 7 to 10 as well.

Module 2.5, Pathway Hub. The practice pathways of chiropractic, read against your own strengths, for when you're asking where in this profession you fit.

Module 3, Apprenticeship. Visits to practices beyond your school's clinic, with a plan for what you'll watch and notes on how each office runs.

Module 4, Club Startup. Starting or running a club at your college, with a real team and a way to keep it going after you graduate.

Module 5, Capstone Project. One question of your own, researched and carried all the way through to something you present.
